USSSP: A Scout's Duty to God and Country

Another Scouting favorite is the Philmont Hymn:

1.         Silver on the sage, starlit skies above

Aspen covered hills, country that I love.

2.         Philmont here's to thee, Scouting paradise

            Out in God's country tonight.

3.         Wind in whispering pines, Eagle soaring high

Purple mountains rise against an azure sky.

4.         Philmont here's to thee, Scouting paradise

            Out in God's country tonight.

                              By John Westfall.

Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimarron, New Mexico.

(Tune: Tannenbaum)

As the night comes to this land,

On my promise I will stand,

I will help the pack to go,

As our pack helps me to grow.

Yes, I'll always give goodwill,

I'll follow my Akela still.

And before I stop to rest,

I will do my very best.
