WELCOME TO SCOUTS IN FICTION

TELEVISION SERIES WITH SCOUT EPISODES

ADDAMS FAMILY

Pugsly being a scout was a shame and a burden on his parents but well, that's what kids do best. (Source: Dee LaRock)

ANDY GRIFFITH/ANDY OF MAYBERRY

The Andy Griffith show had a couple of episodes involving Scouts, including Opie going off to camp once. He is seen in full uniform returning home to get his "Scout axe." (Source: Karl Poppelreiter)

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

(Source: John D. Urbach, II)

After the first two years of Battlestar Galactia in the late 1970's they changed the script around in Battlestar Galactia 1980. There was a two part ephasode called "Super Scouts" about some of the Galactia Children joining the scouts and doing neat things on Earth (I know it sounds kind of silly, but at the time, when I was a kid myself, I thought it was so cool). HOME IMPROVEMENT

I get Scouts-L digest, but I haven't seen anyone mention Mark Taylor, Tim & Jill Taylor's youngest son on Home Improvement. The first few seasons he was seen in his Cub Scout uniform several times. (Source: Cathy Porter)

IRONSIDES

Another tv movie that had Scouts in it was the pilot movie for the series Ironside. He has a Scout troop looking for a pack rat that had taken some evidence from a crime scene. (Source: Carl Grabiel)

SCARECROW AND MRS. KING

In Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Amanda King [Kate Jackson] was a den leader for her son's den. Looking at the episode, the boys were a mix of wolf and bear cubs, and she was wearing the insignia incorrectly, she did leave the boys with her mom while she went off to rescue Scarecrow (never went to Youth Protection or read BSA policy). But I *LIKED* it!!! (Source: Kim Moye)
