Things We Can Learn From Our Dogs
Unknown
Never pass the opportunity to
go for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure
ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them
gently.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps, and stretch before rising.
Run, romp and play daily.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Be Loyal.
Never pretend to be someone you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
Thrive on attention, and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often your scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout,
run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Pet Owner's Pledge
I am acquiring a pet to love and enjoy.
It is a privilege to own a
pet.
I have a responsibility to care for my pet during its life expectancy.
I am not impulsively obtaining a pet.
I consulted the other members of my household.
I have considered how it will change my life style.
I know my responsibility in regard to food, water, housing, medical care,
training expense.
I am aware of society's
animal surplus problem and my part in it.
I will control my pet's
ability to produce offspring by having it neutered or spayed.
I will obtain information on
correct training of my pet.
I will have identification
tags on my pet at all times. I will follow state and local
laws pertaining to my pet. I will prevent it from infringing on the rights
of others. I will not abandon my pet. If I cannot properly care for
my pet, I will try to find a good home.
If no other choice, I will take it to an animal shelter for possible
community placement.
I will take the
responsibility myself and have it humanely euthanized by a veterinarian.
