Subject: 1999 Old Threshers Heritage Camporee

Some of you may have heard of the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion held in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa just prior to Labor Day each year. It has been going for over 40 years and is an established celebration of agricultural heritage and is attended by people from all over the world.

Eight years ago a group of Scouters decided to partner with the Old Threshers Association to make use of the grounds (including museums, trolley, log village and campgrounds) for a council camporree the weekend prior to Memorial Day. The Camporree has grown to a regional event and in 1998 attracted over 900 youth (including Cubs) and adults from Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.

This years Camporee is scheduled for May 21, 22 & 23 ( you check in Friday PM or Saturday AM) and will be bigger and better. We've maintained the gems of the past (Electric Trolley Rides, Train Rides, Log Village, Steam Engines, and Working House Demonstrations) with some more current items of interest such as an Internet Workshop for exporing the great amount of Scouting related information on the WEB, Radio-Controlled Model Airplanes, Pinowood Derby Run-off and more. Enjoy Patch Trading, Evening Song Fests, Swap Meet, Dunk Tank and more.

Come with your troop for the weekend, your pack or den for the day or as a family for the weekend or day. There are spacious campground accommodations with modern bathrooms (hot showers) and RV hookups.

Send an email with your address to dennis.wilson@milwaukeewi.ncr.com for an information & registration packet.
