Comments for Camp Wildwood (was Camp Quinapoxet)

This camp was owned and operated by the Cambridge Council #229, BSA. The current status of this camp is unknown because the Cambridge Council is now part of the Boston Minuteman Council and may have been closed and/or sold.

Camp Quinapoxet celebrated its 75th season in 2000. The camp originally was located on Lake Quinapoxet in 1925 for one year. The next two years, it was at another location before finally settling for its current location on Hubbard Pond in Rindge, NH in 1928. This camp occupies 180 acres. Offers a lake (more than 50 acres) for swimming, boating and canoeing, tent camp sites, Adirondack (lean-to) shelters and winter cabins for overnight use and family camping, an activity field for athletics and camporess, boats and/or canoes for overnight groups, and a summer camp dining hall. They also offer a High Adventure program, a COPE course and extended Cub Scout camping. The summer camp only runs for a four weeks (2 Boy Scout residential, 1 High Adventure, 1 Junior Leader Training (JLT)), but does so at a considerable savings. The cost for camp during the 1997 season was $115 per boy, with an adult at no cost for each 8 boys.

It was rumored that this land was given to the Audobon society and is still available for camping. I have not been able to confirm this.

Camp Quinapoxet was located in Charlton, NH in 1926 and 1927. I don't have any other specifics on this location. As for the status of "Quinny", it is now operated by the Massachusetts Audubon Society as Camp Wildwood.
