1200 acres with lots of wildlife. Several Ohio Endangered species including the Northern Copper-bellied Water Snake and the Blue Spotted Salamander. Good sized flock of wild turkeys. Mixed hardwood forest on glacial drift. Good bass fishing. Large state wildlife area immediately to South. Good location for astronomy with very little light interference.

It has been three years since our large troop has attended Camp Frontier. We were very disappointed four years ago with the lack of scout spirit, poor maintainence of facilities and poor quality of the mostly too young staff. Since that time we have been told adults now provide instruction of the youngest scouts in the "Starting Place" program (T/2/1). A new rapelling tower, showers, and in-site restrooms were built. However, no amount of physical improvements can compensate for a program that lacks good scout spirit and teaches scouting principles. We are returning this year with a wary eye for promised improvements. Current conditions will be forthcoming following our visit to camp in two weeks. Hope to provide a more positive review of Camp Pioneer soon.

Our troop of 34 scouts and 7 leaders just completed a week long summer camp. In general we were pleased with the improvements the camp made since our last visit, four years ago. The boys unanimously expressed a desire to return. Highlights of the camp are a moving OA tapout ceremony, a cool lakefront with many swimming accessories and positive staff. Food was standard camp food and the quanity was sufficient for even our most voracious eaters. Keep up the good work Eries Shores Council!

Our troop's best summer camp in years! From the opening campfire to the program areas, Camp Frontier shows scouts that it is OK to have fun at summer camp. This camp offers extras for the boys that we weren't used to at our regular summer camp such as the "blob" at the water front, the ATV outpost, and rootbeer cantina night. The quantity of badges offered is large, but the dedication to quality is the focus. This camp really tops the list with their Ecology staff.

I recently camped at Frontier with our Philmont crew. The north site was not ready for visitors, but will be this year, if not all ready. The south site was great. The sump and red roof inn are easily found and the camping area is well maintained. If your going to philmont and want a practice campout with similar facilities, this is great. Also went cross country skiing there last year also. it was great. trails were well marked and we could go off trail if we wanted. rental was cheap and quick. Keep up the great work Erie Shores.

Just made the two hour drive to Camp Frontier. We almost always go to a different camp each year, not this time. We were nervous, but the staff and program are the best I've ever run into. Called the "Disneyland" of Scout Camps by the Troops that recommended it to us. That was no lie or understatement.
