    This camp rocks

Will Rogers is the primary summer camp of the Cimarron Council. Located just about 40 miles west of Tulsa, it offers a great alternative to some of the larger camps. All of the food is preapred on site and home made, not the thaw, heat & serve stuff that larger camps always cook. It is also one of the very few Boy Scout camps where they serve family style and they always have plenty of leftovers. The food is always one of the top rated parts of camp.

Rather than put a bunch of inexperienced 15 year old reading out of Merit Badge books, they have their Council Vice President of Program who personally leads the First Year Camper program, making it one of the finest and best ran parts of any camp I have seen.

The camp fees are reasonable, the setting more laid back and yet, there were enough Merit Badges and special offerings to keep a troop there with plenty to do for 3 - 4 summers.

So many positive things have happened at WRSR in recent months. The camp cut the ribbon on the new Anderson Family Shower house - a modern facility with seperate restrooms & hot showers & laundry facilities for the entire camp.

The Camp also totally renovated the Trading Post, with lots of new lower prices and products beyond typical supply division - it is like a Camping & Backpacking Store! Just this past week (April 2007) the camp broke ground on a new Nature Lodge.

The fees are quite reasonable and the camp does not nickle & dime scouts with special fees for classes like Shotgun Shooting. They sell Basket Kits to campers cheaper than other scout camps can purchase Baskets wholesale from Supply Division. Even American Red Cross C.P.R. is offered to Campers at no extra charge - and they leave camp with the card!

Besides buildings, there has been even more positive changes. The training level of the staff is unmatched. They are one of the very few Scout Camps in America to send ALL Area Directors to National Camp School, including the Outdoor Skills (ScoutCraft) and Nature / Ecology Directors. They also have THREE National Camp School Shooting Sports Directors and TWO Climbing Directors on site. In all there will be 17 National Camp School certified staff members at Camp in the summer of 2007.

At a lot of camps there are complaints about the food, but not at Will Rogers! The entire camp sits down in the Dining Hall at the same time and eats family style with real home cooked meals, and plenty of food for extra helpings.

At some of those mega camps you are stuck in the C Shift Feeding Line for 30 minutes and then you get the same disgusting institutional thaw - heat & serve food that they dish out at Elementary School Cafeterias. THIS CAMP IS DIFFERENT!

There is so much to do at canp each week! This camp participates in the NRA National Scout Camp Rifle Competition, there are Chess Tournamnets, Volleyball, Scout Mania Trivia, and dozens of special events each week. Special guests and extra classes like Oklahoma Certified Hunter Safety are also available each week.

The camp offers more than 40 Merit Badges & has an awesome website and leader's guide. Visit http://cimarronbsa.org/Camping.asp

The First Year Camper Program (Maverick) is first rate! Fred Spellman, the Vice President for Program for the Council and a Top Gun Naval Aviator Fighter Pilot personally directs the program.

The camp has a great Water Skiing program, and features a natural rock face cliff for true High Adventure Climbing - "Cedar Point"

Why bother with Tom Hale or Slippery Falls when Will Rogers has the best trained staff, the most innovative programs, and each scout is treated with respect. You are not crammed into a dining hall after after standing in long lines and forced to eat Sysco mystery meat like you do at some camps.

Our Order of the Arrow program & Ceremonies are first rate. For a small class 700 Council we sent 23 Arrowmen to the last NOAC at Michigan State & 10 people to NLS / NLATS in the past 12 months. Compaire that to the much larger Last Frontier Council (Camp Slippery Falls), a council five times our size - they could only manage sending seven Arrowmen to NOAC in 2006. A strong OA Lodge is a sign of a strong camp.

A full week at Will Rogers has about 200 campers plus the staff & leaders. Overlooking the cliffs above the Arkansas River, it is a great way to escape the Texas heat, or just come back to what Scout Summer Camping should be all about. Come and experience the best small camp in America that is doing a lot of Big Camp things! WILL ROGERS SCOUT RESERVATION!
