J97scouts

Attention all Scouts on the Jambo97 List:

"J97Scouts", A new e-mail list, has been formed specifically for Scouts attending the 1997 National Scout Jamboree. This list will cover topics that are more relevant to youth attending the Jamboree than the topics on Jambo97. Youth are always and still welcome on Jambo97, though. The list will share the support page with the Jambo97 list:

The procedure for subscribing to this list is:

Send an email to:

J97Scouts@dynapolis.com

In the SUBJECT line type:

subscribe (or subscribe digest)

I am the youth "leader" of this list, so if you have any questions, please contact me at

gana@owt.com.

I look forward to good discussion on a variety of topics on the new list.

Dear Scouts and Scouters -

If you are a Jamboree-bound Scout or have some in your troop, you should know about the email list devoted to Jamboree Scouts - J97Scouts.

J97Scouts is a companion list to Jambo97. Jambo97 was first started to provide a way for adult leaders and staff members going to the Jamboree to connect, trade tips and ideas, and to prepare for this great event.(Jambo97 is just a few members shy of 1,000.) We have a number of Scouts on Jambo97 and they have contributed significantly to the discussion. Still, about a month ago we started J97Scouts as a forum devoted to Jamboree Scouts - thinking that their topics and style warrant their own meeting place.

J97Scouts is run loosely like a Scouting organization. We have a leadership Council of Scouts from Jambo97 who volunteered to provide direction in getting J97Scouts going. We have a Scout who serves as the list leader - Josh Gana. I serve as the adult advisor to the list and also host the list on my server.

We keep the two Jamboree lists in sync - mostly by cross posting from one list to the other when something important comes in. And, though J97Scouts is not fully moderated (messages get posted without going through someone) I watch it pretty carefully.

To join J97Scouts, send an email to:

J97Scouts@dynapolis.com

In the SUBJECT line, type:

subscribe

And while we're promoting, be sure and check out the support Web site for Jambo97 and J97Scouts:
